Armin Only - Mirage

Last Saturday, I went to Armin van Buuren's show that celebrated the launch of his new album Mirage. It turned out that some of my friends were also going, instead of just me and a date, so it was even cooler to be there with Martin and Femke *and* Liedewij. It was Lied's first party after 5 years or so, and she was in for a treat.

We arrived at 23:30 hrs roughly and the party started up-tempo. Other Armin Only! parties have started a bit too mellow for my taste. And waiting until 1-2am for the music to pick up is not funny. But this year, he went straight for it! Tons of live artists. Of course, songs from his new album. Awesome performance and great light shows and lasers. I didn't bring a camera but the video below kinda says more than I could have captured anyway:

Armin van Buuren feat. Susana - If You Should Go

Isn't it ironic?
When I was at Armin Only! in Ahoy in December 2006, and Susana performed If You Should Go live on stage, I got chills and really enjoyed the song. I imagined what I would do if she really would go and leave me. Two years later, around the same time of the year as when I was at the party, she did just that. Isn't that ironic? Song still gives me chills though. Love it!

DJ Mag TOP 100 for 2009

DJ Mag just published their annual TOP 100 DJ of the world list. Armin van Buuren won again, 2nd 3rd year in a row! Congrats! Tiësto is #2. Trance duo from US "Above & Beyond" are on #4, a surprise for me. Didn't know they were so popular. They've been a favorite of mine for a while now and I love their podcast! German Paul van Dyk and Dutch Ferry Corsten are #5 and #7 resp. Love both of 'm too. Markus Schulz (also German), a recent favorite of mine is #8 and the young boy genius Sander van Doorn - who rocked at Mysteryland this year - is #10.

You may wonder why I left some numbers... well French David Guetta (#3) is not my style, although he does have some great hits. Deadmau5 (#6), I never heard of and Gareth Emery from the UK (#9) is new to me too, although I have heard a set or two by him and liked very much. :) So I'm keeping tabs on the latter for the next year. Now, tune in to and find your favorite tracks/DJs.

Mysteryland 2009

Saturday I was at Mysteryland 2009. We were all afraid for the weather but it was beautiful albeit a bit windy. It was a very very beautiful decorated event, even for Mysteryland! Food, bars, coins. Everything was well taken care of. No hassle, no hussle no stress.

Update: BNN has a great 1 hour (!) video report (in $#@&$%# silvershite!) from this crazy party with 60000 people.

Touch at the Sea 2009

While at Touch at the Sea 2009, last weekend in Vroeger in Bloemendaal, I recorded a live act by Jerry Given and sexy dancers, during the set of DJ San.
I was pleasantly surprised, first that he really could sing and it was a good live act. So I put it up on YouTube.

Update: I've uploaded my photos and found a video by who recorded all the beautiful women at the party! :) Genius, saves the trouble, embarrassment and bad looks ;)

Complete Line-up Mystery Land 2009

They just released the complete line-up for Mystery Land 2009. :) Tickets are already in!

Livesets Trance Energy 2009

Trance Energy 2009 was amazing! Woohoo! I felt a lot better going there than I had all week. It was also good to go and meet some friends again. The line up was very promising and totally lived up to its promise. :)

If you'd like to rise and repeat the feeling :) download the Livesets Trance Energy 2009 from VK Magazine! :D Armin and Paul rule! Wow!

Trance Energy 2009

Today it's time for another Trance Energy with friends. It'll be the first time in 6 years I'll be there as a single again... Interesting... ;)

Trance Energy timetable

Found a really handy timetable tool on the web. Trance Energy timetable. You select the DJs you wanna see and it prints a handy dandy time table you can take with you. :) Super!

Birthday presents!

I had one of the best birthday parties last night! Thanks to everyone who joined me! It was almost as I remember from university... Lots of people were there and not everyone knew each other. But it turned out great and I had a blast! I also got great gift, so that's even better! :)
Tried out my USB keys, to complement my Eee PC 900 and was slightly disappointed to note U3 is a Windows/Mac only thing. Not all is lost though, because Linux comes with a great many tools to do the same anyway. Would've just been easy. I'll use one 8 GB to store boot images, tools and more and brand one as my mobile office with Truecrypt, Email, firefox, Skype, Pidgin IM, FileZilla and more.
My parents and Isa gave me the DVDs to Armin's Imagine tour last April in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht as well as the registration of the Elements of Life tour on Copenhagen! Wonderful! Awesome parties, still sad a missed the party in Copenhagen! Looks awesome!
Thanks also for the liquors, the monetary gifts,…

Installing PCLinuxOS Mini-Me to an eeePC 900

As I am home alone today, I can nerd all I want with the heat turned dow to a comfortable 19°ree; Celsius, Trance & Techno & livesets blasting from the Mac Mini MediaPC and a pot of fresh espresso nearby! w00t

Decided to give the Mini-Me disto a try, as I read good things about it. Abusing Petra's USB Lipstick again as it is the only &$#%@& bootable USB stick in the house, I tried the Live OS and was amazed! It uses KDE but looks very crisp and clear and the OS is just blazing compared to Eeeubuntu I have been using the last week. :) Very pleased! So I am installing it, however MiniMe wouldn't start WiFi. On my netbook, that is a big Must Have so I checked Google and found Installing Mini-Me to an eeePC 900 (2.6.26 kernel - everything WORKING!!). I'll update here as I progress...

Update: Alright, now at my 3rd reinstall of minime. Got the WiFi working with madwifi update. Then enable the testing repo as well to get better support and install remaining …

Tiësto in London

Tiësto did a cool show in the O2 Arena (you know, the millennium tent). Although I think the Gelredome in Arnhem is bigger (25,000?), it is a really cool place for a DJ set! w00t Wish I had been there! Great show using a 200 m2 LED wall behind him. So cool!

Dance Valley 2008

Now already 3 weeks ago, I finally got the pictures online. Shame on me I know. But I'm also uploading some video's. Need to get me a bigger SD card ;)
DV was super, even though the weather was bad. It had rained several days before the event and the grounds were soaked. Totally. They had spread out 600 m3 of wood snippers but there were at least 2 down pours hours before the event. So: mud valley once more. However... the music was great! It cleared up around 7pm, a few hours late, sadly. We first went to the new second main stage, Flashover Recordings, hosted by Ferry Corsten. Because the mud was terrible, we stayed there all day. So we didn't get to see anything else. But because Cosmic Gate rules, Judge Jules was ok, Bart Claessen rocked and Ferry and Tiesto outdid themselves, we had an awesome day!
Check the pictures!

DJ San

Met up with Santito yesterday to show him how he can create his own torrents. It is so easy, even he can do it using μtorrent. And he should. His tracks are becoming in demand as he is growing more popular. YouSendIt only goes so far...
But while talking, he told me to watch this new guy: DJ San. Never heard from him but Tiësto signed him, he has played for huge crowds already and is Dutch, but... no one here knows him. Go figure! So I'm telling you here now, download a few mixes and check the tour guide. He'll be here for the Summer festivals... :bounce:

Desert Rose - Sting & Cheb Mami Remix

I first heard this remix during spinning, somewhere Spring last year and immediately loved it. It's fast, upbeat and just launches huge surges of adrenaline through me when I hear it. :)
I'm still trying to find the mp3 tracks, if you have them please inform me, but for now I found the video (!) of the song on YouTube. I'm glad I found Chab Mami :respect: and located the video...

Time-table Trance Energy 15th Anniversary edition

I read the Time-table for Trance Energy, the 15th Anniversary edition in Utrecht on Feb. 23rd... :) :bounce: Man oh man!
Sadly, I won't be able to go because I'm on a short snowboard trip to Colorado. That, of course, is also totally excellent. But I'll miss TE for the 2nd year in a row and this year's line-up is even better than last year. :K
So I hope, for my sake, that radio 538 or Fresh FM will be broadcasting the event so I can - with an 8 hour time-difference, enjoy at least the sounds...

Mystery Land

Yesterday was another Mystery Land on the Floriade grounds, near Amsterdam. It was a gorgeous sunny day, not too hot, bit of wind, excellent music and lots of friends. :) Only down-side was that mobile networks were severely stressed and keeping in touch was next to impossible. :( Nonetheless, we had a great time. Menno de Jong is great! Markus Schultz is my new hero and Armin still rocks! :) Sneakerz was too crowed and everything else was too busy or too far. I'll have my pictures soon...
Greetings to Erik and Hanke, who sneaked in for free at 9pm and came and visited us! LOL Have at your Cruise and Dance!!!

Mystery Land 2007

The weather is shaping up nicely, it looks to be a gorgeous day. ANWB have actually issued a traffic warning for tomorrow because Mystery Land will attract 25,000 people and the weather will pull thousands of people to the beach at Zandvoort.
/me is warned

Armin Only or Just Ferry?

UDC is not holding another Armin Only in Rotterdam, sadly. After Carl Cox and Armin, it's now Ferry Corsten's turn in AHOY with full on ferry. October 27th, after my 40th (pfff) birthday... so perhaps it'll be a birthday batch. :)

Extrema Outdoor 2007

Went to Extrema outdoor saturday and had a great time, despite the shower we had dumped on us around 730pm. By 8pm I was drenched, had lost Anke at the bathrooms (?) and decided to go back to the rest. With many friends scattered over the grounds, I opted to get inside the lakeside stage and dry myself off by dancing around vigorously. :D It worked. An hour later, everyone was back and I was dry. 3voor12, from Dutch broadcaster 3fm, has a nice report about Extrema Outdoor, albeit in Dutch. Sorry.
